A little about me

I’ve spent 15 years in device management. I still ask why the product works that way.

I’m Owais. I’m the Product Line Manager for Workspace ONE Launcher, Workspace ONE Printers, and Android OEM Integrations at Omnissa. My day job puts me right in the middle of the bigger IoT questions that come with frontline environments. When I’m not doing that, there is a fair chance I’m 3D printing something.

I started working in EMM and MDM about 15 years ago. A lot has changed since then. Some things, printer management included, have not changed nearly enough.

Most product material tells you what a feature does. I started Owais Writes for the question I usually care about more: why does it work that way?

If you run Workspace ONE UEM, work around frontline technology, or simply want more context than a feature list gives you, you’re in the right place. I’ll go deeper than the release notes, but I’m not trying to turn every post into engineering documentation.

What I write about

I tend to write about the choices behind the product: what customers were actually asking for, which constraint made a simple idea complicated, and what I learned while building for retail, hospitality, logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, and other frontline settings.
